Vintage Hors D’Oeuvres Serving Tray

This beautiful Vintage Hors D’Oeuvres Serving Tray has a story to tell, having been brought to life after being rescued from an old villa previously owned by Palmerston North Hospital (Mid-Central DHB) before being sold to a developer and demolished.

Originally made by Sovereign Woodworkers Ltd in Whanganui sometime in the 1960’s or 1970’s, this Vintage Hors D’Oeuvres Serving Tray still has its original labels on the underside! Made from native New Zealand timbers:  Matai, Kahikatea, Rewarewa, Totara, Pukatea, Rimu, with Matai in the centre; the reverse side of the tray having been photographed in natural light.

We carefully sanded the tray to remove the original lacquer which was cracked and peeling, then re-sealed it using Resene Qristal Clear Polyurethane making it food-safe.  The tray is (L) 330mm x (W) 206mm x (H) 18mm in size.
