Description

This beautiful Vintage Hors D’Oeuvres Serving Tray comes with a story. It was rescued from an old villa once owned by Palmerston North Hospital—saved just before the property was sold to a developer and demolished.

Crafted by Sovereign Woodworkers Ltd in Whanganui sometime in the 1960s or 1970s, the tray still carries its original maker’s labels on the underside. It’s made from a selection of native New Zealand timbers—Matai, Kahikatea, Rewarewa, Totara, Pukatea, and Rimu, with Matai forming the centre panel. The reverse side has been photographed in natural light to show the timber’s true character.

We carefully restored the piece by sanding away the cracked, peeling lacquer and resealing it with Resene Qristal Clear Polyurethane, making it food‑safe while preserving its vintage charm.
